More on oracle.com
This is just a quick update (basically agreeing with Robin Moffat in the comments here and Dom Brooks here ).
One of the blogs I follow is that of the optimizer team. . They’ve recently just released quick update because their excellent white papers have moved – and er there’s no redirection in place.
Oracle, this kind of stuff sucks. Yes, there will be technical reasons behind it, but really for a technology company to be moving stuff around unannounced (and just leaving a 404 in place) isn’t good enough.
What I don’t understand is, why they are not re-directing to the new address it cannot be that rocket science and I believe they have a content manager tool for the links. Even the most amateur websites do redirecting.
Oracle definitely needs to have a decent web master/manager/editor for both MOS and oracle.com they are the most public and weakest links of the company.
MOS articles has got the worst titling and probably they dont have a good editor who is technical enough to understand how a title should be for a techie search.
I also wonder how hard it can be to have a good search engine for the bigges database vendor. MOS and oracle.com is awful with the search engines as well. its even better using google to search in oracle web sites. I think instead of suing google for java they can start learn something from them about search engines.
